He is a 2006 Fiat 500 and serves as the fiancé of Mato, Mater's sister, making him Lightning McQueen's brother-in-law. Before the wedding ceremony, Mateo anxiously awaited Mato at the altar. However, the event was disrupted when Mato and Mater engaged in a series of competitions to prove who was better, causing the officiant to leave. Despite his concerns, Mateo's cousin, Cruz Ramirez, revealed that she had become a licensed wedding officiant during her off-season from the Piston Cup, allowing the ceremony to proceed.
